After having being a “sports scientist” for professional Australian Rules football (AFL) for 10 years, professional cycling, elite tennis players and many other sports, I found this very basic and quite limited in scope. No mention of the important role of the sports scientist in working closely with the medical and physiotherapy, psychology and other members of allied health team, or developing new innovative strategies to improve team performance. No mention of the use and optimimizing hydration and pre- and post game recovery, fatigue management or strategies?
